The procedure involved removing hardware from a previous surgery, shaving off bone spurs causing numbness in Ms. Gilbert’s right hand and implanting an artificial disc in her neck.
Dr. Bray performed the procedure at DISC Sports & Spine Center in Newport Beach, Calif. He had also performed spinal fusion on Ms. Gilbert in 2001 after she broke her back.
This was the fourth spine surgery that she has had.
