2. Neo Medical, a spine company with an augmented reality platform, raised $68 million in a series B financing round. Neo Medical focuses on thoracolumbar fusion, and its Advise AR platform leverages artificial intelligence.
3. Shane McGowan, MD, a spine surgeon at Richmond-based OrthoVirginia, became the first in the state to complete 100 spine surgeries using augmented reality navigation.
4. In August, surgeons at New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Northwell Health affiliate South Shore University Hospital performed Suffolk County’s first spinal surgery using an augmented reality navigation platform.
5. In July, Daniel Sciubba, MD, of Northwell Health became the first surgeon in New York to use augmented reality-guided technology in a spinal tumor surgery.
6. In July, orthopedic surgeon Phillip Myers, DO, of Singing River Orthopedics in Ocean Spring, Miss., became the first surgeon in the state to perform surgery using an augmented reality technology called HipInsight.
