Dr. McGowan completed 100 procedures using Augmedics’ Xvision system, which uses a headset to project the position of surgical tools on a CT scan and lets physicians look at the patient and navigation data simultaneously.

Augmented reality navigation is becoming more popular nationwide, as systems in several states have begun adopting the technology for spine and orthopedic procedures.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
