Spine surgeon leader to know: Dr. John Starr of Washington Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine

John K. Starr, MD, is an orthopedic spine surgeon at Washington Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine in Washington, D.C. He serves on the medical board for the FBI, Secret Service and State Department.

Specializing in complex spinal surgery, he treats complex deformity, revision reconstruction, spinal trauma and tumors. He researches spinal fixation, spinal trauma care and complex tumor resection and reconstruction.

 

Dr. Starr previously held advisory roles for the National Institutes of Health and the Food and Drug Administration.

 

After completing his orthopedic residency at the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Starr did two spinal surgical fellowships at the University of Miami.
