Zimmer plans to open a new manufacturing facility in Oranmore, Ireland. The company will invest more than 51 million euro in the site. The new site will also include sales and marketing for a direct sales force in Ireland as well as an educational facility, according to the report.

With Medtronic’s acquisition of Ireland-based Covidien moving ahead, it appears that the island may become the site of orthopedic device company competition in the near future.
