The mission trip will fund a team of two surgeons and 15 other healthcare professionals as they travel to Nigeria and provide orthopedic treatment to the people who need it most. Zimmer has donated orthopedic implants and other products to use during the trip.
Currently, fewer than 200 trained orthopedic surgeons practice in Nigeria, which is a country of more than 160 million people. The GEANCO Foundation was established by Godwin Onyema, MD, and his family in 2005 to support local healthcare efforts.
