Zimmer & ISTO Technologies Announce Phase III Clinical Study

Zimmer and ISTO Technologies have announced a Phase III clinical study to evaluate DeNovo ET Engineered Tissue Graft, an engineered cartilage implant for repairing cartilage defects in the knee, according to a company news release.

The randomized, controlled study will generate meaningful use data. It will include 225 patients at up to 25 centers across the country. In the preclinical studies, cells derived from juvenile tissue showed significantly greater capacity for regenerating cartilage when compared with cells derived from adult cartilage.
