Zimmer Introduces Line of Patient Specific Instruments

Zimmer Holdings, a leader in musculoskeletal care, recently released its line of Zimmer Patient Specific Instruments, which use MRI technology and pre-operative planning tools to create customized cutting guides that are tailored to each patient’s unique anatomy, according to a Zimmer news release.

Zimmer PSI may be used in minimally invasive procedures, such as total knee replacement, according to the release.

Zimmer PSI are designed to ensure accurate placement of the knee implant and are compatible with the Zimmer NexGen Complete Knee Solution and the Gender Solutions Natural Knee Flex systems, according to the release. Zimmer PSI streamline the surgical procedure by eliminating several steps in the total knee replacement procedure.

The first knee implant procedures using Zimmer PSI were recently completed, and the products are now widely available to surgeons across the country, according to the release.
