Medtech company Wenzel Spine received FDA clearance for panaSIa, an expandable sacroiliac fusion implant.

The implant offers a minimally invasive procedure option for patients with sacroiliac joint dysfunction, according to a July 15 news release from Wenzel Spine.

The approval marks the first FDA clearance of an expandable SI fusion implant.

The system separates the joint surfaces and minimizes micro-motion in the joint to provide immediate fixation and stabilize the joint for fusion, the release said.

At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
