Irving, Texas-based Vizient awarded the contract to SeaSpine apart from the standard competitive bid cycle through the Vizient Innovative Technology Program, which identifies devices and technologies meant to improve medical care, patient or worker safety, or healthcare business operations, according to a SeaSpine news release.

SeaSpine’s surgical imaging guidance system uses machine-vision algorithms and only visible light, reducing radiation exposure.

Debbie Archer, Vizient’s director of procurement and a leader of the tech contract program, said the navigation system receiving the contract signals that the product “demonstrates a unique quality that differentiates it from other products on the market.”

“Our member council determined that SeaSpine’s 7D Flash Navigation System met this standard and recognizes its potential to improve quality outcomes,” Ms. Archer said in the news release.

SeaSpine’s portfolio focuses on devices to treat patients with spinal disorders, including implants, bone graft substitutes and other surgical navigation systems.
