U.S. Small Bone and Joint Market Hits $1B in 2010, More Growth Expected

The United States small bone and joint orthopedic device market was valued at more than $1 billion in 2010, which represents a 12.6 percent increase over 2009, according to an iData report.

The authors of the report expect to see market growth at a double-digit rate over the next few years. The market segment includes shoulder reconstruction, elbow reconstruction, hand and wrist, foot and ankle, shape memory staple and digit correction and replacement.

Industry leaders in the small bone and joint market include DePuy, Synthes, Biomet, Zimmer and Wright Medical.
