The study, published in the Global Spine Journal, assessed Carlsmed’s personalized interbody spacers with traditional implants. Sixty-five patients were assessed, and researchers found that using personalized spinal devices led to “significant improvement” in achieving pelvic incidence and lumbar lordosis alignments.

“In the publication, data is provided indicating that utilization of Aprevo patient-specific devices resulted in a 42% improvement in achieving PI-LL mismatch within 5 degrees of the surgeons’ preoperative plans,” lead author Justin Smith, MD, PhD, said in a news release.

At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
