Stryker’s Q2 Sales Down 4.6%

Stryker’s second-quarter 2009 sales revenue has decreased 4.6 percent from second-quarter 2008 due to losses in currency value and sales revenue, according to a Stryker news release.

However, Stryker’s overall net sales remained relatively flat (0.1 percent decrease) on a constant currency bias.

The company’s orthopedic implant sales increased 5.1 percent on a constant currency basis, and medical/surgical equipment sales decreased 7.7 percent on a constant currency basis.

Stryker anticipates an unfavorable impact on net sales of approximately 1.5-2.5 percent in the third quarter of 2009 and an unfavorable impact on net sales of approximately 2-3 percent for the full year of 2009, according to the release.
