2. Documents have indicated at least 99 Stryker hip lawsuits involving LFIT V40 femoral heads are pending in the District of Massachusetts. Additional claims have been consolidated in New Jersey’s Bergen County Superior Court.
3. Many of the pending cases involve specific LFIT V40 femoral heads that were included in Stryker’s hip recall in August 2016. The affected components had been associated with a higher number of complaints involving taper lock failure.
4. The recall was designated as a Class II medical recall by the FDA in November 2016. A Class II designation “indicates that a device may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences.”
