Stryker elects biopharmaceutical CEO to board of directors

Giovanni Caforio, MD, will join Stryker’s board of directors on Dec. 1.

Three things to know:

1. Since 2015, Dr. Caforio has served as CEO of biopharmaceutical company Bristol Myers Squibb. He assumed the role of chairman of the board in 2017.

2. He has led Bristol Myers Squibb’s research and development transformational medicines, which include products for oncology, hematology, immunology and cardiovascular disease.

3. Dr. Caforio is chairman of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America, a trade association representing pharmaceutical companies in the U.S.
