Medtech company SpineGuard has received notices of allowance from the United States Patent and Trademark Office for three new patents.
The three recently allowed patent applications are part of a set of five patent families developed by Spine Guard to integrate its dynamic surgical guidance technology into surgical assistance platforms, according to a May 26 news release from the company.
Here are the three new patents:
- The first patent protects algorithms that enable a robot to automatically detect the imminent risk of a bone breach based on real-time variations in DSG electrical conductivity measurements of bone tissue.
- The second patent applies DSG to detect deviations from the operative plan, improving the safety of surgical navigation platforms.
- The third patent protects integration methods of the DSG sensor and its electrical connections within the drill bit and powered drill assembly used for bone drilling procedures.
