Smith & Nephew Acquires Healthpoint Biotherapeutics for $782M

London-based medical device company Smith & Nephew is buying Texas-based Healthpoint Biotherapeutics for $782 million, according to the Washington Post.

Healthpoint focuses on acute, chronic and burn-related wound care. The company hopes the acquisition will strengthen Smith & Nephew’s position in bioactive wound care.

Healthpoint and its 460 employees will continue to be based in Fort Worth.
