Several spine surgeons recently gave presentations about sacroiliac joint pain at the EuroSpine and North American Spine Society annual meetings, according to an SI-BONE news release.

In particular, Michael Janssen, DO, a spine surgeon from Denver, argued at the NASS Current Controversies in Spine Surgery symposium that SI joint pain played a significant role in lower back pain pathology. Jens Chapman, MD, of Seattle argued the counter point.

SI-BONE also held events at both conferences that were attended by more than 250 people. The events are part of an effort to increase awareness of SI joint disruption and the company’s iFuse Implant System. The minimally invasive system uses implants coated with porous plasma spray to decrease implant motion.
