RTI Biologics Purchases Pioneer Surgical Technology for $130M

Alachua, Fla.-based RTI Biologics will purchase Pioneer Surgical Technology and pay at least $130 million for the company’s stock.

Water Street Healthcare Partners supported the deal with $50 million in private equity, and RTI will designate two Water Street directors to serve on the company’s board.

Pioneer Surgical, based in Marquette, Mich., manufacturers spine, orthopedic, biologics and cardiothoracic devices. The company recently launched its Streamline minimally invasive spinal fixation system.
