Phillip Duke, MB.BS, FRANCS, FA(ORTH)A, performed the procedure on a 68-year-old patient. PyroTITAN, a resurfacing implant for minimally invasive surgery, is designed as a bone-sparing option for patients who need shoulder joint replacement. The implant is available in 12 sizes which are based on published anthropomorphic data of more than 300 human humeri in order to improve the atomic fit.

PyroCarbon technology is compatible with the patient’s cartilage and bone which could reduce the pain and wear caused that metal implants cause. A week after the surgery, the patient continued to report pain relief.
