Ossifix Technologies to be acquired by investment company

Umbra Companies has initiated the acquisition of orthopedic implant manufacturer Ossifix Technologies, the investment holdings firm said Nov. 17.

Three things to know:

1. Ossifix develops implants from high-density, allograft cortical bone.

2. Umbra and Ossifix are working to create biodegradable polymer-based surgical instrumentation featuring antimicrobial technology.

3. CEO Alex Umbra said the transaction is part of the company’s “growth through acquisition approach,” which will expand its reach in orthopedics.
