OrthoSensor Receives Patent for Intelligent Orthopedics Platform

Sunrise, Fla.-based orthopedic device company OrthoSensor recently received a United States patent related to its intelligent orthopedic surgical platform titled “Method and System for Positional Measurement Using Ultrasonic Sensing,” according to an OrthoSensor news release.

The company has more than 100 patents issued and pending, with the latest relating to the ultrasonic sensing of mechanical alignment position in its intelligent orthopedic surgical platform. Intelligent orthopedics uses sensors, microelectronics and wireless communications in an attempt to improve alignment and placement of orthopedic devices, which could improve outcomes and reduce the cost of orthopedic care.
