Onward’s spinal cord stimulator implanted in first patient

Onward’s ARC-IM spinal stimulator was implanted in the first human patient, the devicemaker said Sept. 27.

The ARC-IM delivers targeted therapy which aims to restore movement, according to a news release. The therapy has been used to restore upper extremity movement and function.

Two cases with the implant were completed in Switzerland, the release said. A clinical study is underway to investigatae the safety and effectiveness of thought-initiated spinal cord stimulation in spinal cord injury patients.
