Olathe Medical Center 1st in the region to offer robot-assisted surgery for partial knee replacement

Olathe (Kan.) Medical Center is the first hospital in the region to incorporate a robot-assisted orthopedic surgical system for partial knee replacement surgeries.

The technology is a hand-held, robotic sculpting tool that allows the surgeon to prepare the joint for the partial knee implant. The precision of robotics enables the surgeon to preserve the most amount of natural knee tissue possible.

 

“By enabling very precise and predictable results, we expect smaller incisions, less scaring, a shorter hospital stay or an outpatient procedure in some cases, and quicker recovery when compared with traditional partial and total knee replacement techniques,” said ” William W. Bohn, MD, an orthopedic surgeon.
