Excelsius3D is a mobile X-ray system designed for 2D fluoroscopy, 2D digital radiography and 3D imaging in adult or pediatric spine patients, according to a May 9 email to Becker’s. The robot-assisted case was done at New York City-based NYU Langone Health, and the patient is recovering.

“We’re excited to be the first medical center in the world to successfully implement and use this new enabling technology,” Dr. Goldstein said in a statement. “This first-of-its-kind system helps immensely in the operating room to ensure we do surgery in less invasive ways and with higher degrees of accuracy.”

Dr. Goldstein is the director of NYU Langone Health’s spine surgery fellowship.

At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
