Under the contract, Diamond Orthopedic will supply locking and nonlocking faceted screws for the Precice system, which is intended to provide internal lengthening while avoiding damage to growth plates. Precice is part of NuVasive’s specialized orthopedics portfolio.

Diamond Orthopedic’s screw design enables surgeons to insert faceted screws into bone with “reduced insertional torque and increased screw pullout,” the company said in a Jan. 13 news release.

NuVasive’s Precice stretches newly forming bone to a targeted length over several months and is removed once desired bone length is achieved. After implantation, the patient or caregiver uses a controller to perform micro adjustments.
