Dr. Sciubba used Augmedics’ xvision system, which allows him to see the patient’s anatomy through skin and tissue, during surgery, the health system said in a July 18 news release.

Dr. Sciubba’s case was completed at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset. Two weeks after the debut procedure, Ronit Gilad, MD, used the technology at Staten Island University Hospital.

Northwell also plans to roll out the technology at Lenox Hill Hospital and South Shore University Hospital.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
