Key findings of the survey included:
• 77 percent of respondents believe current lumbar discectomy surgical techniques require improvement in technology.
• More than 80 percent of respondents report that repeat lumbar discectomy surgery is required in more than 15 percent of patients seen.
• Once a repeat lumbar discectomy surgery is performed, nearly 90 percent of respondents report a third procedure in approximately 10 percent of patients seen.
• More than half of respondents also believe NewVert’s Octopus Spinal Annular Repair System have the potential to reduce the risk of repeat operations after lumbar discectomy.
