Neurosurgeon joins Medtronic as chief medical officer of neuromodulation

Medtronic hired Ashwini Sharan, MD, as chief medical officer of the company’s neuromodulation operating unit.

Dr. Sharan will help shape the direction of innovation and clinical evidence plans and work with the medical community to address its needs, according to a June 6 news release. 

He has 25 years of experience and is co-director of neurorestoration at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. He treats a variety of conditions, including herniated discs, spinal cord injury and back and neck pain.
