Medtronic Posts FY 2010 Revenue of $15.8B

Medtronic recorded revenue of $15.817 billion for the 2010 fiscal year ended April 30, 2010, an 8 percent increase over fiscal year 2009 revenue on both an as reported and constant currency basis, and exceeded $4 billion in revenue for the quarter, a first in the company’s 61-year history, according to a Medtronic news release.

FY 2010 net earnings were $3.099 billion, up 50 percent from FY 2008. Fourth quarter revenue was $4.196 billion, up 10 percent over the fourth quarter a year ago, according to the release.

Annual revenue in the company’s spinal segment increased 3 percent to $3.5 billion, representing a 2 percent increase on a constant currency basis. Fourth quarter revenue was flat at $880 million. Outside of the U.S., the company’s spinal segment grew 6 percent on a constant currency basis for the fourth quarter, driving by a growth of balloon kyphoplasty in Western Europe, according to the release.
