Medtronic Opens Orthopedic R&D Facility in China

Medtronic has opened an orthopedic research and development center in Beijing with its partner, Shandong Weigao Group, according to a China Daily report.

The joint venture between the two groups was established in 2008. It focused on developing Medtronic’s vertebral and joint products in China, according to the report. By 2015, China may become the world’s second largest orthopedic market, and a localized research and development facility can help reduce costs for China’s rural areas.
