The new device is a self-locking expandable vertebral body replacement cage surgeons can use in the thoracolumbar spine. The device is designed to stabilize the spine and provide correction in patients after trauma or a tumor disorder.

The device eliminates the need for set screw placement during surgery. It can be filled with bone graft after insertion and expansion to foster fusion.
