The system is designed for use on a minimally invasive spinal procedure that uses Kyphon Balloon Kyphoplasty for vertebral compression fractures The Kyphon Xpander IBT II system has greater lifting force than the first generation product.
During the procedure, surgeons use a needle and tube to create a small pathway into the fractured bone, usually on both sides of the vertebral body. Balloons are inserted into the fractured bone and then inflated for the fusion.
