The company reported selling 11 of its RIO systems and 1,813 MAKOplasty procedures performed during this past quarter. The company also launched its total hip arthroplasty application during the third quarter and has sold 12 applications since then.
The total gross profit for the third quarter was $13.2 million, considerably higher than the $7.5 million reported for the third quarter of 2010. Operating expenses did increase by more than $6 million due to increased sales and marketing efforts, more research and development activities and additional administrative costs to build infrastructure that will support continued growth.
