MAKO Surgical Posts Q1 Revenue of $13M, 80% Increase

MAKO Surgical, manufacturer of orthopedic devices, has reported first quarter 2011 revenue of $13 million, indicating an 80 percent increase over the same quarter in 2010, according to a company news release.

Revenue from Q1 2011 primarily consisted of $6.5 million from sales of implants and disposables used in the 1,304 minimally invasive MAKOplasty knee procedures performed in the quarter. Additionally, approximately $5.3 million of Q1 revenue can be attributed to the sale and installation of seven RIO Robotic Arm Interactive Orthopedic systems, which is a surgical platform that supports MAKOplasty procedures.
