The Pinnacle device has been found to shed tiny metal particles as the hip’s ball joint wears on the metal cup. There are 57 lawsuits so far alleging this increases risks and leads to early failure of the implants.
Federal courts took a similar stance on lawsuits filed on DePuy’s ASR implant, which the company eventually recalled. Those lawsuits were consolidated at the U.S. District Court for Northern Ohio.
