The new patent is a continuation of a series originally filed by KFx Medical in 2004. Last year, an anonymous party requested the Patent Office re-examine KFx’s first and seminal patents, but the office upheld KFx’s patent. The company’s new AppianFx line of implants is designed to reattach tissue to and in bone during shoulder, knee, foot and ankle procedures.

The product offerings include those that directly place and secure tissue into bone with and without the use of sutures.
