InVivo Therapeutics names Dr. James Guest to scientific advisory board — 5 key notes

InVivo Therapeutics named James Guest, MD, PhD, to the Scientific Advisory board.

Here are five things to know about Dr. Guest:

 

1. Dr. Guest is the professor of neurological surgery at Miller School of Medicine and the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis. He has a special interest in spinal cord injury and has made contributions to the field for more than 20 years.

 

2. During his career, Dr. Guest held appointments at the Barrow Neurological Institute, West Palm Beach VA Medical Center and Miami Veteran’s Medical Center.

 

3. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Guest authored more than 75 peer-reviewed publications and was active in research design for several clinical trials. He was the principal investigator for the North American Clinical Trials Network for treating spinal cord injury.

 

4. Dr. Guest earned his medical degree from the University of Alberta, Edmonton in Canada. He completed his residency at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver and a fellowship in spine surgery at Barrow.

 

5. Dr. Guest’s research includes spinal cord injury, biology of neuroglia and mechanisms of secondary injury.

 

“I am honored to join the Scientific Advisory Board,” said Dr. Guest. “InVivo is advancing a new direction in spinal cord injury therapy. It is bold, but may open the door for new approaches in an area that remains without effective treatment.”
