Bioengineered Neural Trails involves an “injectable combination of biomaterial and neural stem cells,” during minimally invasive surgery. The procedure is intended to foster neurological recovery.
InVivo recently received patents for a University of California, San Diego-developed instrument intended to insert the spinal scaffold and neural stem cells. James Guest, MD, of the Miller School of Medicine in Miami, created the device.
This instrument’s role is paramount, as the scaffold must be placed in the exact intended location.
