The addition of HA was made after surgeon feedback indicated that bone ongrowth on all sides of the PEEK device could be more effective.

A pre-clinical Invibio study using a sheep model showed that within four weeks of implantation, the PEEK-OPTIMA HA Enhanced Polymer demonstrated enhanced bone apposition compared to PEEK-OPTIMA. After 12 weeks, the bone apposition levels are maintained with the new grade.
