The research will involve assessing the structural integrity and longitudinal performance of various biomaterials in orthopedic implant wear studies. The data generated from the research will be used to reduce the frequency of joint replacement implant failures and improve the quality of life for patients.
Under the partnership, ImageIQ will develop and employ micro-computed tomography and volumetric image processing techniques that are tailored to specific properties of each biomaterial. This will generate a high resolution three dimensional visualization which can be analyzed for quantitative information on implant wear and durability.
