3. Gregory DiFelice, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at Hospital for Special Surgery and New York Presbyterian Hospital in New York, made headway in this procedure by using arthroscopic instruments for minimally invasive surgery made by Arthrex.
4. Arthrex, a Naples-based medical device manufacturing company, developed a suture device that enabled Dr. DiFelice to reattach the ACL.
5. Dr. DiFelice, one of the first surgeons to utilize the new devices, explains that 90 percent of patients feel as if their knee was never injured after recovery.
6. Reconstruction surgery, while still a viable option, involves an extended recovery period and has limited results for patients, making ACL preservation a better option.
