Dr. Ramon Cugat to present Cytori Cell Therapy for ACL reconstruction study results — 5 things to know

Ramon Cugat, MD, PhD, will present the results from a 20-patient, single-arm, open-label pilot study on Cytori Cell Therapy use in ACL reconstruction at The Orthobiologic Institute 7th Annual PRP and Regenerative Medicine Symposium on June 10 in Las Vegas.

Here are five things to know:

 

1. All patients in the study had sports-related injuries leading to complete rupture of their ACL, and all received Cytori Cell Therapy to reconstruct the ACL.

 

2. The presented data includes safety, feasibility, patient-reported outcomes related to activity levels and pain as well as serial MRI of the knee through one year.

 

3. Researchers compared the data to a historical control group of similar patients treated at the same center by the same surgical team using the same procedure without supplementation of Cytori Cell Therapy.

 

4. Dr. Cugat currently serves as president of the Medical Council at the Catalan Mutual Insurance of Football under the Royal Spanish Football Federation.

 

5. Cytori Therapeutics is a San Diego-based late stage cell therapy company.
