The computer navigation allows surgeons to see the complete patient anatomy, according to Craig Morrison, MD, a reconstructive orthopedic surgery specialist at Southern Joint Replacement Institute.
“It’s essentially like a video game where you can see in real time with your instruments lining up to the target and perfectly placing the implant,” Dr. Morrison told WKRN.com.
According to Dr. Morrison, the technology offers two advantages for patients: faster, improved functionality and earlier gains in range of motion.
