Former Smith+Nephew leader among 2 Hyalex Orthopedics hires

Hyalex Orthopedics named two leadership appointments: CEO and chief technical officer.

Carl Vause is the medtech company’s new president and CEO, according to a Jan. 25 news release. He previously worked as a global franchise leader at Smith+Nephew, CEO of Soft Robotics and vice president of marketing at Conmed Orthopedic Solutions.

Michael Hawkins, PhD, was named chief technical officer and will continue serving as director of the company’s board. He held multiple positions working 35 years at Zimmer holdings.

Hylalex Orthopaedics is developing a cartilage system designed to repair cartilage lesions and restore function in the knee.
