Former Orthofix Manager Charged With Medicare Fraud

Brian Racey, a former territory manager for Orthofix, was charged with Medicare fraud, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Philadelphia.

Mr. Racey was connected with a scheme to submit $250,000 in fraudulent claims for bone stimulators that did not meet Medicare’s guidelines. In order to meet federal guidelines for reimbursement, Mr. Racey allegedly forged patients’ medical records and altered physician prescriptions.

If convicted, Mr. Racey faces a maximum possible sentence of 10 years imprisonment, a $250,000 fine and a $100 special assessment, along with restitution and forfeiture.
