Former Medtronic executive named Wishbone Medical’s president of spine & biologics

Spinal implant developer Wishbone Medical on Sept. 2 appointed Jodie Heggelund global president of spine and biologics.

Three things to know:

1. Mr. Heggelund has more than 20 years of experience in the spine, orthopedic and biologics sectors, beginning his career as a sales executive at Medtronic.

2. He also held positions at NuVasive, Orthofix, LDR Spine (now Zimmer Biomet) and Xtant Medical before founding Viking Orthopaedic Solutions, a consulting company.

3. Wishbone Medical aims to accelerate its growth in the spinal deformity market. In August, the company acquired two spine device companies — Back 2 Basics Direct and Orbbö Surgical.
