FDA approves biomaterial silicon nitride fusion devices

CTL Amedica’s Nitro interbody fusion cage system portfolio was cleared by the FDA, the devicemaker said May 18.

Nitro is a silicon nitride implant that is designed for greater protein absorption, increased osseointegration and better bone growth, according to a news release. The Nitro portfolio includes devices for a variety of spinal fusion procedures.

The Matisse Nitro ACIF cage system will launch later in 2023, followed by the rest of the Nitro systems.
