FDA approves 2nd Medtronic neurostimulator

Medical devicemaker Medtronic received FDA approval for its deep brain stimulation system.

The Percept RC, a rechargeable neurostimulator, is the latest device in the company’s Percept device family, which includes another neurostimulator, technology that receives and records brain signals and directional leads, according to a Jan. 8 Medtronic news release. The system treats patients with movement disorders such as Parkinson’s disease and epilepsy. 

Medtronic also recently earned FDA approval for its irregular heartbeat device and put funding into the expansion of its GI Genius module.
