Five things to know:
1. Dr. Lewicki was key in developing the ARAI surgical navigation system, which uses augmented reality and artificial intelligence to autonomously segment and analyze patient anatomy and identity.
2. He is a cognitive scientist and entrepreneur as well as a former professor of cognitive psychology at the University of Tulsa, Okla.
3. Dr. Lewicki founded StatSoft, an advanced analytics and data mining company that was acquired by Dell in 2014.
4. In October, Surgalign acquired Holo Surgical and its flagship ARAI technology, which is patented and has passed clinical testing.
5. Dr. Lewicki’s addition brings Surgalign’s board members to nine.
